Profile
Renée Anne Shirley is a Jamaican financial consultant with a wealth of investment management, commercial banking, trade finance, government, non-profit and sport administration experience. For over three decades she has worked extensively throughout the Caribbean region and the Americas on a number of interesting assignments for a wide range of clientele in the public and private sectors, as well as the international donor agencies.
She is also a well known media personality in Jamaica, starting out in the early 1990s as a frequent guest on the popular radio news & current affairs morning programme “The Breakfast Club”; then Co-Host/Producer of “First Edition” with Cliff Hughes - another news and current affairs morning programme (1997); Host/Executive Producer of one of the leading midday call-in radio talk show programmes “Straight Talk” (1997-98); Host/Presenter of “Question-Time” - a weekly CVM TV prime time current affairs programme in which a guest (a prominent business person, politician or government minister, central bank governor, etc.) was interviewed (1998-99); and Co-Host/Presenter of the “Evening Edition” - an evening drive-time current affairs radio programme (2007-08). Ms. Shirley was in demand as a political economic analyst on both radio and television in the lead up to, and on Election nights for several Jamaican General Elections including, for example, being the Moderator for a programme covering economic issues on CVM TV’s “Issues and Answers ‘97" series, which was aired during the week preceding Jamaica’s General Elections on December 18, 1997. And she also participated in CVM TV’s “The ‘97 Vote" - the six hour election night programme monitoring election results. She wrote weekly opinion columns in the business sections of the “Sunday Herald” (2003-05) and the “Financial Gleaner” and other Gleaner publications addressing matters of national importance in the areas of business, finance and economics (1998-99 & 2008-2010). |

As a media skills workshop facilitator she is known for bringing her inimitable one-on-one “Hard Talk” interviewing style to the live on-camera recorded interview practice sessions, which provides participants with a practical simulation on how to anticipate/prepare for and handle tough interviews with confidence.
